Extended Flexibility for FCUs: Virtual Meetings Through 2022

In a letter to credit unions, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) extended the flexibility for federal credit unions (FCUs) to conduct virtual meetings through 2022.

Options for virtual meetings can include webcasts, teleconferences, virtual meeting rooms or other similar ways that allow a member to participate in the meeting.

NCUA initially offered this flexibility soon after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and reaffirmed this flexibility for 2021.

FCUs will need to update their bylaws to take advantage of this option, if they haven't already updated their bylaws to include this flexibility.

The language needed for the bylaw update is detailed in the letter. The letter also includes details about postponing annual meetings, elections, and member notifications.
