CUs Urged to Oppose Interchange Fees Amendment

The California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) are launching a grassroots action alert to credit union employees regarding credit card interchange fees and the threat of new legislation to regulate them.

Currently, there is no bill or written text to regulate credit card interchange. However, a growing bi-partisan coalition that has been attempting to aide small businesses are using the pandemic to attack interchange fees and their message has received a considerable amount of sympathy on Capitol Hill. Now is the time to activate the credit union movement through grassroots advocacy to fight against these forthcoming proposals.

Click here to take action through CUNA’s Grassroots Action Center. You will be prompted to send a pre-written letter drafted from the perspective of the average consumer to your representatives. We need your help to remind Congress to keep the current interchange system in place that benefits all players, including credit unions, consumers, and merchants. Please active your employees today to help us build all the support necessary to protect credit unions and combat potential harmful proposals.
