Attorney General Releases New Online CCPA Consumer Reporting

Lately, there have been several notable developments at the California’s Office of the Attorney General (OAG) relating to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These developments include the following:

1. New consumer interactive privacy tool: The OAG recently launched a new interactive tool that allows consumers to draft notices of non-compliance for businesses the consumer believes may have violated CCPA requirements to allow consumers the opt-out of the sale of their personal information.

2. CCPA guidance updated regarding global privacy control: The OAG also recently updated its frequently asked questions (FAQs) with respect to global privacy control (GPC)—a browser privacy preference signal standard.

3.OAG enforcement actions: Lastly, the OAG recently released a list of enforcement case examples that the agency brought against covered businesses found not to be in compliance with CCPA since the enforcement of the law began on July 1, 2020.
