Inclusiv, in collaboration with Coopera Consulting and Border FCU, will hold its first Juntos Avanzamos Webinar of 202 on March 25: “Expanding Your Service to the Hispanic Community as a CDFI Credit Union.”

Join Border FCU CEO María Martínez, Coopera Consulting CEO Victor Miguel Corro, and Inclusiv Senior Consultant Terry Ratigan for a discussion with Inclusiv SVP of Membership and Network Engagement Pablo DeFilippi on how serving the Hispanic community informs Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) eligibility and can serve as a catalyst for credit unions.

The webinar, which will be held from 11 a.m. to noon PT, is free or charge and open to all credit unions. Credit unions with an NCUA Minority Designated Institutions (MDI) designation as well as those that serve the Hispanic community and are interested in CDFI certification eligibility are particularly encouraged to attend.

In December 2020, Congress approved a landmark $600 billion in COVID Relief legislation that included $12 billion in funding for CDFIs and MDIs, ensuring resources will be directed to some of the communities hardest hit by the pandemic. There are several criteria that are taken into consideration when evaluating CDFI certification eligibility. One of them is lending and providing affordable and relevant financial services for minority populations, including the Hispanic community. By becoming CDFI certified, a credit union is eligible to apply for grants and other resources to expand community impact.
