Hawaii USA FCU and its Foundation recently made a donation to CUAid to help credit union employees and volunteers impacted by the recent wildfires in California.

Meanwhile, one of the credit unions affected, Redwood CU, has had number of employees evacuated due to the Glass Fire, which has burned more than 67,000 acres and is only 66 percent contained. It also is working with members, providing them with important fire assistance and insurance information as well as continually updating its community resources webpage, according to Communications and Public Relations Manager Tracy Condron.

Redwood CU's 2020 Fire Relief Fund has so far raised $150,000 to help fire survivors and aid relief efforts.

As a reminder, CUAid disaster grants are available for credit union employees and board members to assist with immediate disaster relief needs. Visit the Leagues’ Disaster Relief & Preparedness webpage for more information on these grants, including an application form. Credit unions are encouraged to consider donating to CUAid to help with disaster grant funding.

In addition, the Foundation is encouraging all credit unions to download its new CUAid Disaster Recovery app, which streamlines and connects credit union organizations with one another when disasters strike to quickly coordinate resources. This app serves as an extension of the CUAid program.

Click here to download the app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The CUAid Disaster Recovery App also has a desktop version that can be visited here.
