A group of credit union leaders from Japan recently visited E-Central CU in Pasadena.

On Sept. 6, the credit union hosted 17 Japanese credit union executives from various credit unions from the Aichi prefecture or region. E-Central CU Advisor to the CEO Ken Kasamatsu, along with VP of Operations and Marketing Evan Hitchcock and Chief Credit Officer Laurent Sy, spoke to the group about the history of the credit union, it’s growth strategies, and challenges it and other credit unions face.

The $160 million asset-sized E-Central is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, currently has around 15,000 members, and serves a variety of SEGs as well as the San Gabriel Valley area. Recently, the credit union started doing business lending, providing a complete business suite of products and services for local businesses, according to Sy.

“We’re looking to serve the communities we’re in as well as the nonprofit arena,” added Kasamatsu.
